Kenneth Loyd Meritt (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Kenneth Loyd Meritt passed from this earth to be with the Lord on October 28th, 2018. Ken was 81 years old. He was born December 8th, 1936 in Peru Nebraska the 5th of 10 children born to Jesse and Golda Meritt.
As a young man Ken served proudly in the Marines, while stationed in San Diego, Ca. He met and married the love of his life Eunice Ann Buford on December 20th, 1957. At Ken’s passing they had been married 61 years. The majority of Ken’s career was in the communication field where he retired from GTE and owned his own Telcom business in Las Vegas, NV. Ken loved His family working hard TO PROVIDE A GOOD LIFE. Ken moved his family to Missouri and built a family home. Ken loved to have fun. He served his community and was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church in buffalo Mo.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosella and Sharon; and three brothers, Wayne, Alvin, and Dale Meritt. He is survived by his wife Eunice Meritt of Louisburg, MO; four children, Katherine Meritt-Nolting of Fulton, MO, Janet Meritt of Springfield, MO, Kenneth & Debra Meritt of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Jennifer Meritt-Taylor of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Ruth Schrimshaw of Phoenix, AZ and Geraldine & Whiley Kerr of Mahaska, KS; and one brother, Gerald & Rosalie Meritt of Winslow AZ. Ken lived life to the fullest and will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Chapel with Rev. Loren Dryer officiating. Interment will be in the Louisburg Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
