Kenneth Sickels' Obituary
Kenneth Dale Sickels, son of Arthur Kenneth and Leona (Williams) Sickels, was born September 10, 1943, in Corning, Iowa. He departed this life Wednesday, October 3, 2007, in his home, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, and twenty-three days. In November of 1973 he was united in marriage to Doris Graham and together they spent thirty-three happy years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris, on March 12, 2006; and a brother, Arthur Sickels. Kenneth is survived by a daughter, Kathy Brazeal, and her husband, Mike, of Ava, Missouri; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Walker, of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Sickels, of Hartville, Missouri; five nieces, Deirdra Carnall, and her husband, Tim, of Mansfield, Missouri, Devonna Francis, and her husband, Chris, of Stoutland, Missouri, Areatha Mahan, and her husband, Mike, of Hartville, Missouri, Deneane Smith, and her husband, Shane, and Dannette Moore, and her husband, Bobby, all of Mansfield, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised in Iowa and entered the United States Army in 1965, he served his country faithfully until being honorably discharged in 1967. He then moved to Ravanna, Missouri, where he owned his own gas station for a short time. In 1969 he moved to Norwood; after he met and married Doris in 1973, they made their home near Mansfield. He worked for Hutchens Steel Plant from 1970 to 1989 and also worked as a carpenter until a year ago. He farmed and did custom hay work as well. He was a kind and caring person who loved children. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, reading, and fishing. Kenneth was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
