After graduation he moved to Kansas City, where he worked for Kansas City Power and Light; he then returned to the farm in Seymour. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, he worked hauling milk, hay, and cutting oak timber. The oak was sold for lumber, for barrel staves, and railroad ties. He also started buying and selling walnut logs. His walnut business grew until he was traveling to several states, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois. Wayne had made his profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church near Seymour. He also attended the Nixa Assembly of God Church. He was a member of the Loggers; Association, and supported his community by purchasing logs. Many would say he was either logging or loafing. Wayne had a big heart and was a very kind and caring person. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved to visit and never met a stranger. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing ball, playing Rook, and loved to dance; he was also an avid horse racing fan. Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.
