Kevin Powell's Obituary
Kevin Lee Powell, son of Richard Lee and Shirley T. Jenkins Powell, was born October 13, 1961, in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of forty-five years, eight months, and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by his father; and his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Virginia Jenkins. Kevin is survived by his fiancée, Shelly Powell, of the home; a son, Kevin Powell, Jr., of Long Lane, Missouri; three daughters, Brittany Powell, and Briana Powell, both of Long Lane, Missouri, and Anna Bell Hicks, of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Bradley; his mother, Shirley Jones, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Monty Powell, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Sherry Powell, and Connie Coffman, both of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; a very special aunt and uncle, Betty and Alan Endsley, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised in Laclede County, and lived most of his life in the Lebanon community. For several years he was employed by Voyager Marine. For the last six years, he and Shelley had made their home in the Long Lane area. Kevin had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Community Baptist Church, near Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms, collecting arrowheads, horseback riding, and camping. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed having his children around him. Kevin was a loving fiancé, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be made through the funeral home.
