L. Twylah Willard (Seymour)'s Obituary
Leota Twylah Heard (Owens) Willard, age 79 of McAlester, Oklahoma, formerly of Seymour, Missouri passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlester, Oklahoma.
She was born Friday, October 25, 1940 in Purdy, Missouri, one of fourteen children born to Virgil Early Heard and Betty Jane (Haney) Heard. She was raised in the Diggins and Seymour communities. She attended Gentry Elementary and graduated from Seymour High School with the class of 1958.
On September 16, 1965 she was united in marriage to Rev. Marvin “Bill” Owens. After Bill’s passing in 1988 she married Daryl Willard on February 1, 1992.
Twylah was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Rev. Marvin “Bill” Owens and siblings Marie Cornelison, Floyd Heard, Hazel Heard, Mabel Steely, Loretta Bruton, Virgil Heard, Jr., Mary Margaret Cummins, William ‘Jess’ Heard, two infant siblings as well as a great grandson Matthew Zimbelman. Surviving her is her husband Daryl Willard, her daughters, Christi Rogers and husband Paul, Jr. Rogers of Oklahoma, Lola Liddell and husband Rich of Oregon, Margaret Carlock of Illinois and Shelly Kerr of Illinois; a step-daughter Tammy Aswell and husband Warren of Kansas; a step-son Tim Willard and wife Ameka of Missouri; grandchildren Jordan P Rogers and wife Jordan D., Derek Cole and wife Natalie, Chase Carlock and wife Calah, Jared Kerr, Samuel Kerr, Micah Willard and wife Mariah, Nathan Aswell and wife Samantha, Jonathan Aswell and wife Sierra, Kasey Zimbelman and husband Zachary, Heather Hicks and husband Brian and Amber Lidell; siblings Betty Jane Swearengin of Seymour, Missouri, June Bennett of Neosho, Missouri and Jerry L. Heard and wife Linda of Ozark, Missouri.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist and was an excellent typist. She and Bill pastored churches in Mayfield, Kentucky, Bagdad, Arizona, Poteau, Oklahoma and McAlester, Oklahoma. They also traveled all over. She enjoyed crochet and liked to browse and keep up with her family through Facebook. She was an accomplished pianist and also played the accordion and guitar.
Twylah will be forever missed by her large and loving family. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
