LaRoi Jorgensen's Obituary
LaRoi Winifred Jorgensen, daughter of Clinton Dwight and Florence R. (Prime) Pflaum, was born September 1, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. She departed this life Thursday, December 23, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, three months and twenty-two days. On January 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence Peter Jorgensen and to this union a son and daughter were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clinton D. Pflaum; and daughter-in-law, LaVerne D. Jorgensen. LaRoi is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Clarence, of the home; her son Eric P. Jorgensen, of Lansing, Illinois; her daughter Janet L.Williams-Eustace and her husband, John, of New Lenox, Illinois; three grandsons, Keith E. Jorgensen, Brian P. Jorgensen, and Blake A. Williams; one great-granddaughter, Payton LaVerne Jorgensen; other relatives; and a host of dear friends. She grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Hirsch High School in Chicago, and worked as a legal secretary for several years. After her marriage to Clarence, they made their home in Chicago and in 1980 they moved to their farm in rural Seymour, Missouri. In l996, they moved to Springfield, Missouri. LaRoi had made Christ her Lord and Savior early in her life and was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church, and also attended the First Christian Church in Seymour. She was active in the Methodist Women?s Auxiliary and donated to many charities, including The Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, and the Humane Society. She was highly regarded for her generosity and kindness to those in need. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. LaRoi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a caring friend and neighbor. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish all the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
