Larry Gene Cox (Humansville)'s Obituary
Larry Gene Cox was born in the George Dimmit Memorial Hospital in Humansville, Missouri on February 11, 1959, to Alvin Eugene and Jewell Fern (Skyles) Cox and passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
Larry attended grade school through high school in Humansville and was a member of the graduating class of 1977. He attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Graduating in 1980. During his time at Missouri State, Larry was inducted as a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Larry went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and worked with the Missouri Public Service Commission until 2000. In April of 2000, Larry began a second career with City Utilities of Springfield, until he retired in June of 2021.
In his free time, Larry enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and the Missouri State Bears. While living in Kansas City, he attended as many games as he could. Larry was also a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Riff Trax, Cinema Titanic and attended several of their shows.
When relaxing at home, Larry liked to watch reruns of Gunsmoke and the Andy Griffith Show.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Jewell Cox; his brother, Jerry; his grandparents,
George and Minnie Skyles and John and Rosa Cox.
Larry is survived by his sister, Jill Cox.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home in Humansville.
