Larry Finley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Larry Dale Finley, son of Chester and Ruth Hull Finley, was born December 6, 1943, in Rosemary, Nebraska. He departed this life Friday, April 8, 2016, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, four months, and two days.
On April 11, 1964, he was united in marriage to Mary Darlene Paul, and to this union three sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom; and a sister, Peggy.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-two years, Darlene, of the home; three sons, Robert Finley, of Lebanon, Missouri, Jerry Finley, and his wife, Patricia, of Falcon, Missouri, and Kavin Finley, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Alyssia, Mychell, Larry Alex, Tasha, and Tara; three brothers, Dennis Finley, of House Springs, Missouri, Richard Finley, of Lonedell, Missouri, and Doug Finley, of Arnold, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Nebraska, and then moved with his family to Missouri when he was sixteen years old. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for a few years. He lived in the Brownfield and Falcon areas for a time before moving to St. Louis, where he worked for the Westinghouse Company. He also lived in Alaska for a short time. After he became disabled, Larry worked as a repairman and general “fix it” person. He and Darlene made their home in the Falcon community for many years and lovingly raised their sons.
Larry had attended New Home Freewill Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading the Bible.
In his spare time he liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, and gardening. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and loved to laugh. He also enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and friends. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his seventy-two years.
Visitation will be immediately following the service in the funeral home.
A Memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
