Larry G. Jones (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Larry G. Jones, 85, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was the loving husband of Barbara Jones. They shared 65 years of marriage together. Larry was born in Billings, Missouri to William Lee and Susie Jane (Haworth) Jones. He graduated from Marionville High School then Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield with a teaching certificate and degree in music. He taught band and mathematics at Willard High School then started a long career at the Frisco Railroad where he entered the world of computer science and computer programming, initially on mainframe IBM computers. He was later employed at American University in Washington DC. He retired to Bolivar Missouri in 2006. Larry was a talented pianist and served as pianist and accompanist to choir and soloists at churches throughout his life. Most recently he was a member of First Christian Church in Bolivar. Beyond music, he enjoyed golfing, his dog Lexi, watching the St Louis Cardinals and spending time at the beach with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for the values he held dear: faith and family. He was a devoted husband to Barbara. He was a loving father, role model and mentor to his children and his grandchildren. Larry is preceded in death by brothers William, Kenneth, Monroe and Dayton and sister Arlene. Larry is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, daughter Stacey (husband Richard Cox) and son Gregory (wife Jennifer) as well as grandchildren Jordan, Cassidy, Parker, Jacqueline and Branson, and great granddaughter Emersyn. He is also survived by his sister Imogene Foster.
