Larry Pike's Obituary
Lawrence Earl Pike, son of Lawrence Webster and Alice Marie Clasby Pike, was born October 10, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, December 22, 2006, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, two months, and twelve days. On May 8, 1999, in Lenexa, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Caroline Ruth Beyer and together they shared the last seven years. His parents preceded him in death. Larry is survived by his wife and friend, Caroline; two daughters, Tamera Lynn Pike, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Sheryl Kay Pike, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two stepsons, Dan Goodlin, and his wife, Fran, of Monument, Colorado, and Jeff Goodlin, and his wife, Becky, of Kearney, Missouri; two grandchildren, Patricia and Michael Troll; eleven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Snider and her husband, Jim, of Cleveland, Missouri; a half-sister, Barbara Miller; and a half-brother, Jerry Pike; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in Kansas City, Kansas, and after graduating from Rosedale High School, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in physics and mathematics from Emporia State Teachers College. During this time he served in the United States Naval Reserve. He began his career as an engineer at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri, where he made his home for seventeen years. His career path took him to Ohio, Chicago and New Jersey where he retired as an Elevator Engineer Consultant. He returned to Kansas in 1999, where he and his wife Caroline made their home in Louisburg, Kansas. In 2003 they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona. Larry belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Freeport, Illinois and was a member of the Shriner’s Organization. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing golf and horse racing. His charm, wit and ability to make people laugh will bring a smile to the faces of those who knew him with the mention of his name. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. A second service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, at the Louisburg Baptist Temple, Louisburg, Kansas. Burial will be at the Glen Wild Cemetery, Cleveland, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
