Larry D. Stephens (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Larry Donavon Stephens was born March 30, 1944, in Red Level, Alabama. He departed this life Sunday, July 10, 2016, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, three months, and eleven days.
On May 7, 1994, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Fields, and they shared the last twenty-two years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Larry Keith Stephens.
Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; three sons, David Stephens, and his wife, Jessica, of the State of Alabama, Larry Proudfit, and his wife, Clara, and Terry Proudfit, and his wife, Debbie, all of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Merle Hill, and her husband, Bobby, June Dubose, and Brenda Hasselton, and her husband, Charles, all of the State of Alabama; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Alabama and then worked in a supervision capacity with various hotel construction companies in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. Later, he worked as a welder for American Equipment Company. He and Shirley had made their home in the Lebanon area for the last several years.
In his spare time he enjoyed fly fishing, turkey and deer hunting, and liked tying flies for his next fishing adventure. Turkey hunting was his true passion for many years. He also liked to go dancing.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Private family services will be held at a later date under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
