Larry Williams' Obituary
On Thursday, March 1, 2012, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Larry Wayne Williams departed this life surrounded by those he loved. Son of Oscar Ray Williams and Mary Delores (Pruett) Williams, Larry was born June 4, 1942 in the hills of Douglas County; Larry lived for sixty-nine years, eight months, and twenty-seven days.
Born and raised in the Douglas-Webster County area, attending Seymour school, Larry enjoyed all the Ozark hills had to offer. Larry’s sister Betty was seeing Jim Allmon and they decided to introduce him to Jim’s sister Julie. On April 20, 1962, Larry Williams married Julie Ann Allmon and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. The couple settled in Seymour and together raised their family. Larry was good with his hands and found work welding constructional steel. He has left his mark on many of the surrounding areas buildings. Larry found favor in his hard work. He passed this hard work ethic on to his family. Quiet moments on the banks or the excitement of catching a “big one”, Larry was at his happiest when he was fishing. He shared this with his family, and patiently taught his grandchildren. His biggest blessing was the moments he had with his family. A strong and determined man, Larry was someone who’s worth was measured in his words, in the love he had for his family. If he said it, you knew it was done. He was a true friend, and never shied away from what needed to be done.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his infant sister Treva Mae.
Larry Williams is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Julie Ann Williams of the home; his daughter Tina Johnson and husband Doug of Seymour; his sons Terry Williams of Seymour, and Michael Williams and wife Rachael of Protem, Missouri; his grandchildren, Kristin Johnson, Ryan Johnson, and Hunter Williams; his sisters Betty Allmon and husband Jim of Seymour, and Wanda Lee and husband Jimmy; his brothers Kenny Williams and companion Debbie of Jericho Springs, Missouri, and Dean Williams and companion Sharon of Ava, Missouri, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many dear family and friends.
We will miss Larry’s teasing, and the excitement he brought to Christmas celebrations. The area lakes, streams and creeks will not be the same without him. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy for his children, grandchildren, family and friends to carry on. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he created for us all.
