Laura Delcour's Obituary
Laura Jane Delcour, daughter of James Monroe and Allie (Austin) Ward, was born September 21, 1919, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, January 06, 2009, in Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, three months, and fifteen days.
On May 21, 1938 she was united in marriage to Finis Edward Delcour and to this union three daughters and one son was born. Together they shared sixty-three wonderful years until his passing on February 24, 2000.
She was also preceded in death her parents; two grandchildren, Teresa McBride and Daphanie Delcour; a sister, Pansy Fletcher; and two step-sisters, Ruth Loney and Nellie Davis.
Laura is survived by three daughters, Violet Cross, and her husband, John, Ruby Lemons, and her husband, Orin, and Shirley McBride, and her husband, Gene, all of Hartville; a son, Eddie Delcour, and his companion, Katrina Watts, of Hartville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Debbie Farr, and her husband, Winston, and Mike Lemons, and his wife, Wendy, all of Hartville, Missouri, Devona Breeden, and her husband, Michael, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Brandi Delcour, of Springfield, Missouri; a step-grandson, Jason Baker; six great-grandchildren, Natalie Dummermuth, and her husband, David, Averie Breeden, Lucus Goodall, Lilli Daley, Morgan Lemons, and Keegan Lemons; a great-great-granddaughter, Paige Dummermuth; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She was born and raised near Hartville and attended the Glenwood School. After she and Finis married they made their home on the farm, where they lovingly raised their family. Besides being a devoted homemaker she also loved helping Finis on the farm.
Laura had made her profession of faith in Christ at an early age, and was a longtime member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church.
She was a volunteer cook at the Senior Citizens Center and was in charge of the Dorris Cemetery. She centered her life on her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, mowing the yard, and fishing. She also loved bird watching, especially the Martins.
Laura was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother; and aunt and was a caring neighbor and dear friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends.
Services for Mrs. Laura Delcour will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery, north of Hartville. Visitaion will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville.
