Laura Miller's Obituary
Laurel Miller, daughter of John Joseph and Jane Terry Kaney, was born June 16, 1959, in Riverside, California. She departed this life Friday, December 31, 2010, in St. John?s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-one years, six months, and fifteen days. On April 11, 1982, she was united in marriage to Mark Lex Miller, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. Her parents preceded her in death. Laura, as she was called by her family and friends, is survived by her husband, Mark, of the home; a daughter, Sara Miller, of the home; a son, Justin Miller, of Ontario, California; two brothers, Mike Kaney, of Riverside, California, and Charles Kaney, of Spokane, Washington; a sister, Diane Harris, of Riverside, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Riverside, California, and graduated from high school there. She then worked as the manager of the Legion Store for four years. After she and Mark were married, they made their home in California and Laura was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She also worked at various jobs during the next several years. In 2004, Laura, Mark and Sara moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. Laura worked for the Wal Mart Store for a time, until her health began to fail. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking. She also liked collecting beads. She had an amazing ability to remember dates, birthdays, trivia and information of all kinds. She loved animals and especially her pet kitty, ?Phil?. She fought her kidney disease gallantly and with great determination. Laura was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the memories she create for them throughout the years.
