LaVerne Corn (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Clarence LaVerne Corn, son of Clarence and Marie Dye Corn, was born December 21, 1947, in Searcy, Arkansas. He departed this life Friday, May 20, 2016, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty eight years, four months, and twenty-nine days.
On April 14, 1995, he was united in marriage to Wanda Mae Ross, and they shared the last twenty-one years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Clara Corn; a grandson, Christian; a brother, Lonnie Corn; and a sister, Carol Capps.
LaVerne is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home; his children, Doyle Darrow, and Diane, of Niangua, Missouri, Lora Rogers, and her husband, Scott, Mechelle Doeden, and her husband, Bill, Christina Miller, and her husband, Scott, Heather Perry, and her husband, Mike, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Michael Corn, and Chrissy, of Camdenton, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Brandy, Lacey, Shelby, Cody, Calley, Hayley, Dominic, Justin, Cierra, Jessica, and Alyssa; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, David Corn, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Linda Sloan, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Judy Doeden; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Arkansas, and then moved with his family to the Lebanon, Missouri area when he was a child. He attended Lebanon R-III Schools and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1966. He began working at Landau Boats and continued there for several years. He then worked for Mott Packing Plant for a time before becoming a truck driver for Bear Trailer Company. He also was the caretaker for a local trailer park for several years. He and Wanda made their home near Lebanon, and enjoyed spending time with their family.
LaVerne had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of Trinity Full Gospel Church. In a different sort of way, his being diagnosed with cancer, was kind of like winning the lottery for him, as it opened him up to sharing his faith many times during this last year.
He enjoyed the outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He liked taking his grandchildren hunting each year. He enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, and never met a stranger wherever he went. He liked music and played the dulcimer. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus each Christmas season. He maintained a positive attitude and had a delightful sense of humor. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
LaVerne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure all the wonderful memories he made for them during his sixty-eight years.
A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
