LaVerta Carole Hedrick (Lebanon)'s Obituary
LaVerta Carole Hedrick was born February 27, 1941 in Houston, Missouri to William L. and Myrtle Alice Bailey Cornelison. She passed away May 10, 2025 at The Gardens in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years, two months and thirteen days of age.
Carole grew up in several communities, as her father was in the ministry and the family moved frequently. He began his preaching at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Houston, Missouri. The family would eventually settle in Lebanon and Carole attended Lebanon Schools. She then worked for a time in Kansas and St. Louis before returning to Lebanon. Carole then took a job at Silver Dollar City and was employed there for twenty years while she lived in Reed Spring, Missouri. She enjoyed her time there and made many friends.
On May 7, 1976, Carole and Leonard Clayton Hedrick were united in marriage. They celebrated just over seventeen years of wonderful memories before he passed away on August 24, 1993.
In addition to her loving husband, Leonard, Carole is preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle Cornelison; an infant daughter, Judy Kay and an infant son, Billie Joe; two brothers, Charles Dean and James Lee (Don) Cornelison; and two sisters, Joann Weaver and Sharon George.
She is survived by her son, Samuel Hedrick and his wife Crystal of Nixa, Missouri; three daughters, Melissa Crank and her husband Rick of Elkland, Missouri, Julia Moore of Bolivar, Missouri and Brenda Greer and her husband Lyndon of Everton, Missouri; her step-children, Debra Hedrick and her spouse Lorene of Dover, Delaware, Steve Hedrick and his wife Kelly of Omaha, Arkansas and Susie Blake and her husband Steve of Arvada, Colorado; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Mines of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Wilbert Cornelison and his wife Linda of Edwards, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.
Carole had placed her faith in Jesus Christ early in her life at First Baptist Church in Houston, Missouri. She was steadfast in her faith and convictions and had a close relationship with her Lord and Savior.
Carole loved doing crafts. She was talented at crocheting and was an artist at drawing and painting. She enjoyed cooking, especially desserts.
She loved her family and was a big part of each one of their lives. Her loss is deeply felt by her family and she will be so missed. We know that she will live on in them, in their memories and in their love for each other.
