Lawrence Butcher's Obituary
Lawrence Jacob Butcher, son of Charles Jacob and Edith (Paff) Butcher, was born September 21, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life Thursday, August 24, 2006, in his home, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, eleven months, and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Fern Padgett, Kate Carver, Clara Shipp; two brothers, Bernard and Charles Butcher. Lawrence is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Robinson, and her husband, Charles, of Mansfield; three granddaughters, Denise Falls, and her husband, Thomas, Kelly Marler, and her husband, Brad, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Kim Willis, and her husband, Mark, of Ava, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Stone, and her husband, John, Amber Falls, Kristi Falls, Cory Marler, Tyler Marler, Megan Marler, Aaron McNeil, and Chase Willis; two sisters, Rose Hodges and Alice Knowles; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Illinois. In 1942 he entered the United States Navy where he served his country faithfully until 1946. While in the Navy he received an Asiatic Pacific Victory Metal. He then moved to Indianapolis, where he worked for Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for thirty years and retired in the early 80’s. He moved to Florida where he lived for fifteen years and for the past nine years he has lived in Mansfield, Missouri. Lawrence attended Highway of Holiness Church, where he enjoyed fellowship with his church family and friends. In his spare time he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved fishing and working on cars. Lawrence was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be in Cove Springs, Florida. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfied, Missouri.
