Laymon William Cansler (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Layman William Cansler, 90, Bolivar, MO passed away, Friday, November 25, 2016 at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. Laymon was born January 21, 1926 in Huron, MO to James T. and Belle Cook Cansler. He Joined the United States Army and served during WWII and was active in the Battle of the Bulge. Laymon and his younger brother, Junior Cansler joined the Army together and they went off to war together, but during the war Junior went missing in action. After some help from a friend, Laymon discovered in 2006 that his brother had been buried in the Netherlands during the war. Allowing him some closure after so many years of uncertainty. There were two events in Laymons life that meant a great deal to him, finding his brother and being able to take the Honor Flight. Laymon was in his late 80s when he went on the Honor Flight, and despite having been half way around the world the Honor Flight was the first time Laymon was ever on an airplane. It was one of the best times of his life. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years. Laymon is preceeded in death by his parents; and wife, Virginia. He is survived by numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Burial will take place in the Payne Cemetery in Polk, MO.
