Lee Borders (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Lee Edward Borders, son of Vernie and Nellie Liles Borders, was born October 18, 1921, in Bryant, Missouri, and departed this life February 7, 2011, in his home near Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, three months and nineteen days.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Marcum and to this union a son and a daughter were born.
On August 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Velma Sears and to this union four sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jodi Borders and Hubert Borders; two sisters, Ethel Carroll and Lillie Winkler; and a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Borders.
Lee is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; five sons, James Borders and his wife, Deana, of Mansfield, Missouri, Ed Borders and his wife, Becky, of Ringwood, Oklahoma, Norman Borders and his wife, Connie, of Norwood, Missouri, and Lloyd Borders, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Delmar Borders and his wife, Betty, of Rainier, Oregon; a daughter, Darlene Graff and her husband, Jerry, of Pasco, Washington; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.
At an early age Lee helped build the Glad Hill Church and was baptized in Bryant Creek.
He served his country faithfully in the Navy during WWII and lived nearly his entire life in Douglas County except during his time of service to our country. Lee was a farmer and raised black angus cattle. He worked for MFA feed in Mansfield for many years as well as hauling milk for J.D. Porter at Mansfield Cheese Plant. He was a member of Clarence King Post 128 of the American Legion in Mansfield, Missouri.
In his spare time he enjoyed coon hunting as long as his health permitted. But most of all he loved his farm and spent most of his life on it.
Lee was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We will miss him very much.
