Lela Borders' Obituary
Lela Lavonne Borders, daughter of Monroe and Flossie (Bristol) Lansdown, was born August 13, 1921, in Mansfield, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, September 16, 2008, in Linn Creek, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, one month and three days. She was united in marriage to Elbert “Jody” Borders and to this union one son was born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jody, on September 1, 1996; her parents; three brothers, Homer Lansdown, Ralph Lansdown, and Harold Lansdown; and one sister, Nora Youngblood. Lela is survived by a son, David Borders, and his wife, Mitzi, of Linn Creek; three grandchildren, Amanda Borders, of Linn Creek, Amanda Wyatt, of Stockton, Missouri, and Carl Wyatt, of Camdenton, Missouri; a great-grandson, Davon Bushnell, of Stockton, Missouri; a great-granddaughter, Madison Marie Borders, of Linn Creek, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was born in Mansfield and spent most of her life in Douglas County and Wright County. She was a devoted homemaker and loved her family dearly. Lela had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Glad Hill Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed making beautiful quilts and growing flowers. Lela was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and dear friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 20, 2008 in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
