Leland Clark Lewis (Seymour)'s Obituary
Leland Clark Lewis, Jr.
Leland Clark, Jr., son of Leland Clark Lewis, Sr. and Regina Marie (Stark) Lewis born on August 31, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life on Friday evening, June 21, 2013 in Ash Grove Healthcare Facility, Ash Grove, Missouri at the age of sixty-six years, nine months and twenty-one days.
Raised up in the Moberly, Missouri area Butch, as he was known to his family and friends, was the class clown. Always ready with a smile that was contagious. He enjoyed doing impersonations, especially Bill Cosby. After finishing the eighth grade, Butch joined his father and traveled across the states. He became a cross country truck driver for many years, as well as other jobs to provide for his family.
On September 20, 1984 Butch was united in marriage to Betty Jo McNish, and together the lovingly raised their families in the Springfield area. In the later years they lived in the Ava area. You could always find him and his dog Spanky at the local gas station eating candy bars and catching up with friends. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and singing his favorite songs.
Family was at the center of Butch’s life. He loved to spoil his grandchildren. His big heart and giving nature made him the perfect choice to be Santa at Christmas time. He was of the Assembly of God faith and lived his faith by his deeds.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson’s Bobby and David Parkhurst.
Butch is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, B. J. Lewis of Ash Grove, Missouri; his children Christy Gibbs of Johnson City, Tennessee, Cheryl Hirsch of Evansville, Indiana, Debby Silva and husband Reg of West Plains, Missouri and Becky Stiles and husband Mark of Everton, Missouri; his grandchildren Beth Parkhurst, Jessica Parkhurst, Christopher Hirsch, Angel Hirsch, Brandon Hirsch, Amber Brawley, Desireé Brawley, Brooke Herd, and Jaycee Herd; his sisters Murrel Hopen and husband Richard of Pevely, Missouri, Peggy Robbins of Bonne Terre, Missouri and Dollie Burkard of Mansfield, Missouri; several great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other dear family and friends.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend, we will miss Leland Clark Lewis, Jr. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories he created for each of us.
