Leland D. Ruble (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leland Dwight Ruble, son of George Devola and Martha Farley Yates Ruble, was born November 15, 1946, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, August 14, 2017, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy years, eight months, and twenty-nine days.
On March 6, 1981, he was united in marriage to Sharon Diane Vaughn, and to this union a daughter, Caroline, was born. Caroline was lovingly raised with her two brothers, Aaron and Fred Johnson. Sharon passed away on December 5, 2008.
On March 26, 2010, he married Mary A. Noe and they shared the last seven years.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Emily Compton; and two brothers, Leonard and Arlis Ruble.
Leland is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; a daughter, Caroline Compton, of Lebanon, Missouri; five step-children, Ellen Wilder, of Independence, Missouri, Rebecca Alexander, of Eldridge, Missouri, Michael Hahn, and his wife, Teresa, of Kansas City, Missouri, Fred Johnson, and his wife, Gracie, of Austin, Texas, and Aaron Johnson, and his wife, Tracy, of Conway, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren, and one eagerly anticipated; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth Ruble, and his wife, Barbara, Hobert Ruble, and his wife, Annette, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Jack Ruble, of Roseburg, Oregon, Luke Ruble, and his wife, Cianne, of Springfield, Missouri, and Russell Ruble, of the State of Arkansas; five sisters, Judy Porter, of Lebanon, Missouri, Helen Wheeler, of the State of Oregon, Diana Myers, Mary Martin, and her husband, Vern, and Georgie Porter, all of the State of Washington; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and then moved with his family to Oregon and Washington where he worked at turkey and cotton farms. He then returned to Lebanon where he and Sharon made their home. Through the years, Leland worked for Independent Stave Company and Tracker Marine before becoming a custodian at Maplecrest Elementary School for several years. After he and Mary were married, they made their home in Lebanon.
Leland was an active member of Lebanon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and kept his faith at the center of his life.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked to fish and raised quail and chickens. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a very friendly man who never met a stranger.
Leland was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
A memorial has been established and can be left at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
