Lelia Cantrell's Obituary
Lelia Gladys Cantrell was born January 6, 1919, to Sherdan and Ora Stogsdill Miller near Seymour in Webster County, Missouri. She departed this world on the eve of December 24, 2011 at the age of 92 years, nine months and eighteen days in Rocky Ridge Manor, Mansfield,Missouri.
A lifelong resident of the area, Lelia lovingly raised her children, cared for friends and neighbors and faithfully served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A member of the Assembly of God, Lelia held on to her faith over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Rocky Ridge Manor; she crocheted and spent quiet hours doing crossword puzzles. In 1933, Lelia Gladys Miller and Hershel “Clarence” Cantrell united in marriage and to this union they were blessed with two daughters and one son. Lelia loved her family, was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her children and the families they raised. A legacy of love, she leaves them knowing they will meet again. She is preceded in death by her husband Hershel “Clarence” Cantrell; her parents; and her sister Pauline Burr; her brother Boyd Miller. Lelia leaves behind her son Ron Cantrell and wife Carol of Rio Vista, California; her daughters Barbara Ellen Cantrell of Rio Vista, California, and Betty Scott of Rio Vista, California; her grandchildren Terri Payne, Connie Mesich, Kathy Chappuis, Joe Enochs, Heather Cantrell, Michael Cantrell, Raquel Cantrell, several great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and dear friends. We celebrate the life of Lelia Gladys Miller Cantrell, a wonderful woman, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and caring neighbor and friend. We will miss her smile and cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held graveside, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 1p.m., in Antioch Cemetery, Seymour, Missouri under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. No formal visitations will be set, friends and family may call at the funeral home.
