Lelia Lowe's Obituary
Lelia Ann Lowe, daughter of Harold Dane and Chloe Agnes Van Meter Randolph, was born February 20, 1931, near Seymour in Webster County, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in her home near Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, nine months, and twenty-one days. On February 17, 1950, she was united in marriage to Elston Homer Lowe, and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sons, Ronald and Donald Lowe; a granddaughter, Dana Mayes; two great-granddaughters, Brittany Lowe and Eli Alexus Alexander. Lelia is survived by her loving husband of almost fifty-eight years, Elston, of the home; three children, Danny Lowe, Brenda Mayes, and her husband, James, and Greg Lowe, and his wife, Robin, all of Marshfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Dannielle Green, Brian Lowe, Kelvin Lowe, Daniel Lowe, Melody Mayes-Finch, Justin Mayes, and Blaze Lowe; nine great-grandchildren, Blake, Logan, and Lane Brengle, Stephen, Jacob, Colten, and Tyler Lowe, Zachary and Nathaniel Finch; three sisters, Lillian Cook, and her husband, Richard, and Mary Jo Lowe, all of Marshfield, Missouri, and Shirley Stern, of Fair Grove, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. Lelia was born and raised in the Seymour, Missouri area where she graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1949. Following her marriage to Elston, they worked to acquire and manage a dairy farm. After raising their children and a total of forty-three foster children, the dairy was closed. Lelia and Elston then lived in Texas for three years, where they managed several Motel 6 facilities along the Texas coast line. They later moved back to the Marshfield, Missouri area to make their home on their farm. She managed the H&R Block Office in Marshfield for several years and later worked as an assistant on the State School Handicapped Bus. Lelia had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mount Sinai Christian Church near Marshfield. She loved being a farm wife, and in her spare time she enjoyed riding her horses, reading, sewing, and traveling with her husband, especially on the cruise they took to the Bahamas. She and Elston had played guitars at church and with the Oak Hill Drifters Band on a country music show that aired on KLRS Radio, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. They were also members of the Wagon-Ho Club at Ozark, Missouri. Lelia enjoyed cooking for family dinners, and was famous for her hot rolls. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lelia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
