Lena Fay McVay (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lena Faye McVay, daughter of Frank and Frances Hayes Williams, was born July 27, 1917, near Ira, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, August 9, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, and twelve days.
On December 7, 1936, she was united in marriage to Tom Sheridian McVay, and to this union one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom, on March 9, 1997; a granddaughter, Angela Gardner; four brothers, Bill, Fred, Albert, and Johnny Williams; and a sister, Eula Pulley.
Lena is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Peggy McVay, of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Michael McVay, of Lebanon, Missouri; a great-granddaughter, Madison McVay, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Ira community, in Laclede County, Missouri. She then lived for a few years in Pitcher, Oklahoma, where she met her future husband. After she and Tom were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area and lovingly raised their son. Throughout the years, Lena was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
She enjoyed the wonders of nature and loved being outdoors. She liked fishing and several activities where she could be outside. She enjoyed caring for her home and spending time with her family, which she loved dearly.
Lena was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
