Lena Young's Obituary
Lena Mae Young, age 87, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Saturday morning, December 26, 2009 at Colonial Springs Health Care Center in Buffalo, Missouri. She was born December 12, 1922 in Belleville, Arkansas to Francis Carl Berry and Sarah Pearl Wood Berry. She was united in marriage to Orvil Frank Young on July 20, 1941 at Kennett, Missouri. Orvil preceded her in death on January 18, 2001. Lena Mae attended schools in Southeast Missouri. She was saved at an early age and enjoyed singing gospel music with her dad at church services and revival meetings. Lena and Orvil lived on their farm in Polk-Goodson community since 1942. Lena retired from the Polk County Health Center as a visiting Home Health Aide after working there for 18 years. Lena attended the Bolivar Pentecostal Church of God as well as the First Assembly of God Church both in Bolivar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvil, parents, Francis Carl and Pearl Berry, infant twin daughters, Virginia and Vivian Young, her brother Carl Berry, Jr., and two sisters, Gwen and Olgia. Lena Mae is survived by her two sons, Francis Young and his wife Donna of Bolivar, Missouri, Jay Cee Young and his wife Cindy of Bolivar, Missouri, two daughters, Mary Holbrook of Bolivar, Missouri, Zella Duff and her husband Charles of Fair Grove, Missouri, two sisters, Madge Kressin of Chicago, Illinois, and Louise Grissom of Dexter, Missouri. Lena loved and enjoyed her ten grandchildren, Jared, Matthew and Erik Duff, Jamie and Mari Beth Ruckman,Stephanie Fizette, Sonia Hosiner, Kevin Young, Quinton Young, Quincy Young, and her ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving brother and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Jean Young, Betty Young, Theresa Young as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Brother Norman Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kelley Cemetery in Ash Grove, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Monday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Quinton Young, Matthew Duff, Erik Duff, Kevin Young, Martin Hosiner and Ben Fizette. Honorary Pallbearers will be Major Jared Duff and Jamie Ruckman. She was born July 5, 1930 in Bradley County, Tennessee to James standridge and Pearle (Gibson) Standridge. She was united in marriage to Carl Cartwright on January 24, 1948 in Dalton, Georgia. Edith was a Nurse in the Kansas City, Kansas area for 26 years before retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Edith is survived by her husband, Carl Cartwright of the home, two sons, Gary Cartwright and his wife Patricia of Bolivar, Missouri, Scott Cartwright of Marshfield, Missouri, four sisters, Brenda Black of Athens, Tenn., Joann Saterfield of Cleveland, Tenn., Elizabeth Arp of Cleveland, Tenn., Bessie Chastain of Eudora, Kansas, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Tuesday evening, December 29, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. No funeral services will be held.
