Lennie McNeil's Obituary
Lennie McNeil, the daughter of Steve and Alice Brundage Collins, was born November 4, 1911 at Pontiac, Missouri and departed this life on December 13, 2008 in her home in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of 97 years, 1 month and 9 days.
On April 6, 1930 she was united in marriage to James Bert McNeil in Three Brothers, Arkansas and to this union three daughters and one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bert on April 16, 1970, nine brothers and sisters and two grandchildren, Nicklas Holcomb and Lavonne Pool.
Lennie is survived by three daughters, Mary Alice Pool and her husband Monroe of Seymour, Missouri; Toni Holcomb and her husband Phillip of Rogersville, Missouri; Cora Mae Reynolds and her husband J.L. of Orange Park, Florida; one son Dwayne McNeil and his wife Robin of Macomb, Missouri; twenty grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and twenty-four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
After Lennie and Bert were married they made their home in the “Promise Land” community near Oakland, Arkansas north of Mountain Home, Arkansas where they farmed. During WWII they moved to Vancouver, Washington where Bert worked in the shipyards.
After the war was over they returned to Mountain Home where they raised dairy cattle and Bert worked on the Norfolk and Bull Shoals Dams as well as other dams in other states. In 1965 they moved to Seymour and after Bert’s passing, Lennie moved to Mansfield in 1971 where she lived the rest of her life.
Lennie had made her profession of faith in Christ and attended the Assembly of God Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and quilting. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do when she set her mind to it. She was a strong willed person who always wanted to do anything she could for her family.
Lennie was a kind and caring person who will be dearly missed. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and many accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has made for her family and friends.
Services for Mrs. Lennie McNeil will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008 in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield, Missouri. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery, north of Seymour. Visitiation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday in the funeral home. Arrangements are under direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield.
