Lenora Cardwell's Obituary
On the morning of March 31, 2012 God called his faithful servant Lenora Nichols Cardwell home to her heavenly reward from Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, five months, and three days. Daughter of Lawrence and Marjorie Nichols, Lenora was born October 28, 1928 in Wright County Missouri.
She attended Flint Hollow School before moving to California. When she returned to the Seymour area Lenora married Bill Cardwell in 1948, and to this union three daughters and one son was born. The young family moved to Washington State before moving back to the Ozark area. Moving from Willard and Mansfield Lenora returned to Seymour for the remainder of her life.
Lenora was saved early in her life and was baptized by her uncle Reverend Alva Morris. She was a member of the Antioch church, and later attended the Rosehill Baptist Church in Willard, Missouri. Lenora’s personal walk with her Lord and Savior shaped her life and she truly lived to follow him. Lenora’s calling was her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was at her happiest when she was with her family. She knew the importance of God in her life and she shared that with each and every one of them.
A hard worker, Lenora held many jobs over the years, working in the meat department at Town and Country or on the assembly line at Rawlings; she was committed to giving her best. She retired from Rawlings after 13 years of service. She played as hard as she worked, and enjoyed her time with the Rawlings soft ball team.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Dick Nichols.
Lenora leaves behind her daughters Nancy Cheffey, Kathy Still and husband Frank all from Nixa, Missouri, and Janie Napier and husband Melvin of Seymour, Missouri; her son Stanley Cardwell and wife Christa of Springfield, Missouri; her grandchildren Kevin Cheffey, Brian Still, John Still, Brent Napier, Jessica Cardwell and Leah Cardwell; her great-grandchildren Aubrey Cheffey, Jack Still, Olivia Still, Abe Still, Thomas Still and Natalie Still, and Aaron Napier; her sisters Georgia Hession of Carson City, California, Wanda Jacobs of Las Vegas, Nevada, Virginia Herman of Republic, Missouri, Penny Strohfeld of Marshfield, Missouri, Helen Rogers of Nixa, Missouri; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend, Lenora Cardwell will live on in our hearts. We will miss her loving smile and the way she always had time for all of us. We celebrate her life, and accomplishments taking comfort in the hope that we will meet again.
