Lenore Long's Obituary
Bertha Lenore Long, daughter of Dr. Arthur Lymon “A.L.” and Allie Miller Anthony, was born January 11, 1915, near Oakland, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, March 8, 2006, in Christian Healthcare North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, four months, and twenty-seven days. On June 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Guy Raymond Long, and to this union two daughters and four sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, on January 30, 1995; five brothers; two sisters; one half-brother; and two half-sisters. Lenore is survived by two daughters, Leann Campbell, of Dittmer, Missouri; and Becky Eilenstein, and her husband, Keith, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, Richard Long, and his wife, Phyllis, Edwin Long, and his wife, Eva, Freeman Long, and his wife, Janice, and Kenneth Long, and his wife, Edna, all of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Anthony, and his wife, Mildred, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Oakland community and attended Herd School. After she and Raymond were married, they made their home near Oakland, and lovingly raised their children. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Lenore also worked at the Long Nursing Home during the 1960’s. Lenore made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and had attended Happy Hill Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, taking walks in the woods, writing poetry, visiting with her neighbors and friends, working in her garden and canning her homegrown fruits and vegetables. She also liked to make quilts and had created a special one for each of her children and grandchildren. Her family was always her top priority and she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lenore was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Whitson Cemetery, near Oakland, Mo. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
