Leo Jones (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leo Jones was born December 20, 1930, in Conway, Missouri, to Zelmer and Ida Mae (Gann) Jones. He passed away Monday, December 11, 2023.
He was raised in Conway and in 1952, joined the United States Army. He served in Frankfort, Germany until 1954.
In 1953, he was united in marriage to Lois Lucille Bell. Together they shared sixty-two years of marriage before she passed away on October 29, 2015.
When he returned to the states, he and his new bride, Lois, headed west to California. In 1976, they returned to Lebanon, Missouri to make their home. He was employed with the Lebanon R-3 School District for 21 years and retired from there.
Leo was the oldest of seven sons and not only endured the Great Depression, but was witness to many, many changes in the world during his almost ninety-three years of life. He had many stories to share with his own children and was proud to be a United States Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zelmer and Ida Mae Jones; his wife, Lois; two daughters, Teresa and Tina; five brothers, Bob Jones, Wayne Jones, Lavone Jones, Bill Jones and Loren Jones.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Jones of Lebanon, Missouri; his grandson, David Jones and his wife, Hilary, of Lebanon, Missouri; his grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, Jason Wilson, Melissa Wilson and Michael Wilson, all of the State of California, and Kennedy Rae Jones of St. Joseph, Missouri; and his brother, Donald Jones and his wife, Lorna, of Laughlin, Nevada.
Leo enjoyed being outdoors gardening. He also liked to watch Nascar races, listening to country music, and watching western shows such as 'Gunsmoke'. He kept up with world current events.
Most of all, Leo enjoyed spending time with his family. They were very important to him and he loved them very much. He touched many lives and leaves wonderful memories his family will cherish for years to come.
Services for Leo Jones will be private. A memorial has been established to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and donations may be made through the funeral home.
