Leon "Rusty" David Weir (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leon “Rusty” David Weir was born May 9, 1946 in Lindsay, California to his parents, William and Mattie Hawley Weir. He departed this earth Wednesday, July 30, 2025 in his home in Ritchey, Florida. He was seventy-nine years, two months and twenty-one days of age.
Rusty was raised in California and following high school, he joined the United States Navy. He served his country faithfully and fulfilled a tour in Vietnam. He was assigned to the Assault Craft Squadron 13 and was stationed on the USS Pulaski County and the USS Salisbury Sound.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie; his brother, Sid Weir of California; two nephews, Tim and David Weir; and a great-great-grandson, Oliver Garton of Lebanon, Missouri.
Rusty is survived by his son, Victor Weir and his wife Terri of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, Amy Weir and Chrissy Hiles, both of Hudson, Florida; a sister, Grace Edwards and her husband Mike of Columbia, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Brenda Weir of California; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Working on cars was a passion for Rusty. He worked as an auto mechanic throughout his working years in Missouri and Florida, but worked as a welder by trade. His hobbies were building engines and working on cars.
Rusty was a devoted father, a wonderful neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and know his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them.
