Leonard Hart (Hartville)'s Obituary
Leonard Howard Hart, son of Lee Howard and Myrtle Robson Hart, was born April 22, 1935 in Hartville, Missouri. The Lord called him home June 17, 2018 in Ava, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, one month, and twenty-five days.
On May 26, 1954 Leonard was united in marriage to Nadine Hurley and they have spent the last 64 years together.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Nadine, of the home; his son, Jim Hart, of Carthage, Missouri; a grandson, Jessie Hart, of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Dale Hart and his wife Sheila, of Hartville, Missouri; a sister, Wilma Jean Prewett, of Springfield, Missouri; three nephews, Allen Hart, Dan Lawler, and Russ Lawler; many other relatives and dear friends.
Leonard was born and raised in Hartville and graduated Hartville High School in 1953. Shortly after he graduated he met and fell in love with Nadine. After the two were married, Leonard joined the Army in 1958 and was discharged two years later. Leonard worked a couple jobs while trying to make ends meet. He started out working for the Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas. Later, he and Nadine moved to Kansas City and he worked for International Harvester for a short while and then a fiberglass company. He then decided to go to work for Sunshine Biscuit Company and worked as a forklift operator. He stayed with the company for thirty-three years and retired from them in 1988. He also started a janitorial company and ran it for fifteen years before selling it in 1990.
While Leonard was working he was also spreading the Lord’s Message as much as he could. While he was working for Sunshine, he and Nadine went to night school at Midwestern Seminary to better his ability at teaching the Word of God. He started out pasturing the Paradise Baptist Church in Paradise, Missouri and stayed there until 1990. He and Nadine moved to Hartville and two weeks later, he was preaching at the Orla Church and stayed there for a little over five years before taking over Hartville First Baptist Church. After seven years, Leonard retired from preaching because of health issues and he and Nadine moved to Isabella, Missouri and started working on their new home. They eventually sold the property because it was too much to keep up and they sold the house and moved to Mansfield. During this time Leonard started preaching at the Thornfield Baptist Church and has been there ever since.
Leonard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and caring friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories he helped create.
Memorial contributions to The Gideons or the American Heart Association, may be made through the funeral home.
