Leonard Joe Mahan (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Leonard Joe Mahan was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on March 3, 1952 to William (Bill) and Betty Mahan. Leonard enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 and served on the USS Biddle during the Vietnam war working on the ship’s boilers. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1977 and moved to Pearl Mississippi where he worked on offshore oil rigs. Leonard met Teresa, and her daughter Jayme, in early 1996. Later that year they were married. Leonard and his family lived and worked in Bethany, Oklahoma for many years and then moved and retired to Bolivar, Missouri in 2022 with their family. Leonard was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in early 2023 and, with the help of his doctors, was able to fight cancer and infection for two and half years until his passing on September 25, 2025. Leonard will be remembered for his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, friendliness, joyfulness, sense of humor (with his unending jokes), his faithfulness to his wife and family, his playfulness and love for his family, especially his grandchildren. Leonard is survived by his wife, Teresa Mahan, his beloved daughter Jayme Epple and spouse Matt, grandchildren Matthew, Sophia, and Brayden, parents William (Bill) and Betty Mahan, siblings Lonny Mahan and wife Pama, Danny Mahan and wife Cathy, Becky Martin and husband Rick, and many other extended family members. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Bolivar Missouri on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. followed by internment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, located at 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bolivar. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
