Leonard Robert Anderson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leonard Robert “Andy” Anderson, son of Henry O. and Eleanor Bloomquist Anderson, was born May 7, 1939, in Marquette, Michigan. He departed this life Sunday, May 8, 2011, in Glenwood Healthcare, in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, and one day.
On September 19, 1964, he was united in marriage to Wanda Sue Clemons, and to this union one daughter was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry “Buddy” Anderson; and two sisters, Eleanor Anderson, and an infant.
Andy is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Sue, of the home; a daughter, Angie Mills, and her husband, Dean, of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Andrew Mills; two sisters, Diana Higgins, and her husband, Johnny, and Betty Watters, all of Marquette, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Marquette, Michigan area, and attended school there. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army for nine years, and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he met his future wife. The family made their home in Lebanon, and Andy worked in construction at Fort Leonard Wood and also ran a plumbing business in Lebanon. Later, Andy worked for Meco Construction in Springfield for several years before retiring.
Andy had attended Union Mission Church in Lebanon, and greatly enjoyed gospel music.
He was very supportive of the Salvation Army and was always willing to help others. He liked buying and selling items that some might consider “junk”, and enjoyed tinkering with various projects. He also liked to bowl during his younger years. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandson.
Andy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the memories he made for them throughout the years.
