Leoral Faye Akey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leoral Faye Akey, daughter of Herschel S. and Julia Cansler Massie, was born April 13, 1925, near Phillipsburg, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, April 25, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years and twelve days.
On February 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Paul Nelson Akey, and they shared fifty-seven years. One daughter, Pamela, was born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, on September 15, 1999; and two sisters, Marie Smith, and Maxine Meents.
Leoral Faye is survived by a daughter, Pamela Kasiske, and her husband, Stan, of Lebanon, Missouri; a granddaughter, Shelly Cooke, and her husband, James, of Raymore, Missouri; a grandson, Stuart Kasiske, and his wife, Darla, of Reston, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Alex Kasiske and Collin Cooke; two sisters, Pansy Turner, and Sonya Adkins, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Irene Durbin, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Phillipsburg community, and graduated from Conway High School. After she and Paul were married, they made their home in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado, before moving to Texas where they lived for over twenty-five years. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and daughter, Leoral Faye also managed the Auto Workers Federal Credit Union in Arlington, Texas, for many years. After retiring, she and Paul returned to the Lebanon, Missouri area and enjoyed many happy hours “helping out” on the farm of her niece, JoAnn, and her husband, Floyd Massey.
Leoral Faye was a member of the Church of Christ and faithfully attended Hayes Street Church of Christ in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing embroidery work and traveling. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leoral Faye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments, and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
