Leota Amlin (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Leota Mae Amlin, age 86, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility, in Bolivar.
Leota was born in Dorrance, KS on November 27, 1931 to Robert and Marie Miller Duryee. Being born mostly blind Leota had several seeing eye dogs over the years helping aid in her living an independent life. She met Dewey Amlin in September of 1952 while both were living in Kanas City. The couple was married that November and enjoyed nearly 66 year of marriage following the brief courtship. Before moving to Bolivar, the couple lived in Jefferson City where Leota worked in the prison teaching the inmates how to wright and make brail books for the blind. She has been a member The Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since 1957.
Leota is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her husband, Dewey, and many nieces and nephews.
