Leslie E Reeves (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leslie “Les” Earl Reeves, 89, of Lebanon, Missouri, passed into eternal sleep about 6:30 p.m. on March 1, 2019. He was born September 3, 1929, in Lebanon, Missouri, as the seventh in a family of fourteen children, to Hosea and Serenia Kelsey Reeves.
As he grew into a young man, World War II was in full swing, and with his brothers joining up, the patriotic pull took Les into the United States Army during the final days of the war. For that he earned the World War II victory medal. His nation then called him to Korea and he shipped out of San Diego, California and, after a rough trip across the Pacific Ocean, they docked in Japan. From there they traveled through Japan to Korea for the remainder of his tour. This time he earned the Korean War Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He also attained the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged.
Les returned home to his wife and family and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and joined Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church of God in May of 1956. He also began a wonderful career with the City of Lebanon in the Public Works Department. He worked for thirty-nine years before retiring, and his “Medal” was a well named “Reeves Well”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Louise (Edwards) Reeves, Bonnie (Massey) Reeves, and Beulah (Grimes) Reeves, (to find love once is wonderful, to find love three times is extraordinary and amazing); a granddaughter; six brothers and six sisters.
Les is survived by two sons, Ronnie Reeves, and his wife, Teresa, of Texas, and Rick Reeves, of Illinois; two daughters, Jan Reed, and her husband, Jerry, of Missouri, and Connie Long, and her husband, Shane, of Wyoming; nine grandchildren, Candice Reeves, Robbie Reeves, and his wife, Terrah, Nancee Reeves, Karrie Reed, Jeremy Reed, Bryan Cowns, Alex Cowns, Jimmy Rogers, and his wife, Stacey, and Dusty Rogers, and his wife, Ginger; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jesse Reeves, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Les was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-nine years.
