Lester Eugene's Obituary
ester Eugene Cox, son of Kenneth Odell and Mary Magdeline (Hall) Cox was born March 19, 1930 in Cotton Center, Texas. He departed this life Saturday, June 28, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, three months, and nine days. On July 8, 1949 he was united in marriage to Rayetta Perkins and to this union two daughters and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Austin Sublett; and a son-in-law, Jim Phillips. Lester is survived by his loving wife, Rayetta, of the home; his three children, Zen Hall and her fiancé, Jay Potter, of Charleston, West Virginia, Kenola Phillips, of Lowell, Indiana, and Kenny Cox and his wife, Kelly, of Seymour, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kristy Hall, Timothy Hall and his wife, Tracy, Jimmy Phillips, Heather Phillips-Stack and her husband, Andy, and Kyle Cox; three great-grandchildren, Abby and Katie Hall, and Sarah Stack; one brother, Lendel Cox and his wife, Marietta, of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Joy Baker and her husband, James, of Truman, Arkansas, and Patsy Crighton and her husband, John, of Springfield, Missouri; his in-laws, Phyllis Williams and her husband, Harold, of Ozark, Missouri, and Joy Speak and her husband, Ron, of Webb City, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He grew and lived in Texas until he was seventeen and then moved to Clever, Missouri before entering the United States Marine Corps and served his country faithfully during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his discharge and his marriage to Rayetta they eventually made their home in the Seymour, Missouri area. Lester worked for many years as a machine mechanic at the Sweetheart Cup Company in Springfield, Missouri. He had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended the Harvest Community Nazarene Church in Rogersville, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, and mowing and caring for his lawn. He especially loved spending time with his family. Lester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Clever, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
