Lester Harmon's Obituary
Lester Price Harmon, Sr., son of Henry Harley and Bessie Jane Williams Harmon, was born May 20, 1925, near Bloodland, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, February 22, 2009, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, nine months, and two days. On October 22, 1955, in Mexico, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Edna Claywell, and together they shared forty years before her passing in August of 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Preston Thomas and Harley James Harmon; and three sisters, Mary Luella, Vonda Alberta, and Hattie Joan Harmon. Lester is survived by a daughter, Mary Piland, of Nixa, Missouri; three sons, Lester Harmon, Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri, John Harmon, and his wife, Ruthie, of Macon, Missouri, and Louis Harmon, of Brookfield, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nona York, and her husband, Murrell, of Mexico, Missouri, and Delores Johnson, of Camden, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Bloodland, Missouri community. He then made his home in Mexico, Missouri, where he worked for the City of Mexico for a few years. During this time he met and married Edna, and they eventually made their home in the Richland and Waynesville area for several years and lovingly raised their children. Lester worked for sawmills in the area, including for Britzman Sawmill, in Buckhorn, Missouri. In the late 1990’s, Lester moved to the Lebanon area. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting. He also liked listening to Bluegrass music. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lester was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery near Laquey, Missouri.
