Lester Martin's Obituary
Lester H. Martin, 61, of Seymour, Missouri passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. He was born November 12, 1947 in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Roy H. Martin, who survives him, and Miriam K. Horst Martin, who preceded him in death in 1999.
Lester is also survived by his brother, Willard and wife Martha, of Seneca Rocks, West Virginia; three nephews, Kenneth, Timothy, and Tony Martin; one niece, Carla Miller; great-nephews and great-nieces, Trevon, Bradley, Jeanie, and Kristen Martin, and Carson and Spencer Miller; a special friend Susan Gray, of Hurley, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He grew up in Medina County, Ohio and moved to Seymour, Missouri in 1980 to make his home. He worked most of his life as a carpenter in the building of residential homes. After moving to Seymour, he spent time in Guatemala doing mission work.
Lester had made his profession of faith in God and had attended the Star Freewill Baptist Church, near his home, the Seymour Freewill Baptist Church, and recently the Hurley Baptist Church in Hurley, Missouri.
In his spare time he enjoyed reading, going to church, and visiting with his friends. He had a fascination with trains, and loved watching and listening to them.
Lester was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle, and a caring neighbor and friend. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Holman-Howe Chapel, in Seymour, Missouri with burial in Star Cemetery, east of Seymour. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family for funeral expenses in care of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 366, Seymour, Missouri 65746.
