Lester R. Matney (Seymour)'s Obituary
Lester Richard Matney, son of William and Gladys Hargis Matney, was born June 18, 1943 in Seymour, Missouri and departed this life on December 25, 2014 in his home near Seymour, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years, six months, and seven days.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Smith on November 23, 1972. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Wanda, Olivia, Willard, Earnest, Billy Wayne, two infant sisters, and one infant brother; several nieces and nephews. Lester is survived by two sisters, Oleta Codding of Seymour, Missouri, and Aniece Hemminger and her husband, Russell of Lebanon, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; three step-sons, Steve Fox of Springfield, Missouri, Brent Fox and wife, Crystal of Willard, Missouri, and Gregg Fox and wife, Lisa of Seymour, Missouri; six step-grandchildren, Jessica Prewitt and husband, Jeff, Sam Fox, Skylar Fox, Seth Fox, Amanda White, and Bryce Fox. Lester lived his entire life in Seymour and worked for the City of Seymour for over 42 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing, hunting and collecting arrowheads. Lester was a loving brother, uncle, step-father, step-grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. Our memories of him will remain with us forever and we will miss him greatly.
