Leta Brann (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Leta A. Brann, age 94 of Lebanon, Missouri, passed away at Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Sunday, June 14, 2020.
Leta was born to David Chalfant and Thelma King Chalfant near Stoutland, in Camden County, Missouri, on March 13, 1926. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 13 and was baptized into the Church of Christ. On September 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to James “Mac” McCubbin, and to this union, four sons and two daughters were born.
Mac served his country during World War II and they moved to several different areas of the country. Most of their time was spent in Baltimore, Maryland and after Mac ended his service, they moved to Maine to continue raising their family. After 28 years of marriage, the couple divorced.
On January 2, 1984, she married Edward Brann. In the mid 1980’s, Leta and Ed moved to Missouri to be more centrally located to their families. He had six children, as did she, so family gatherings were quite large! In 1995, Edward passed away.
Leta was an amazing woman and loved her family deeply. In addition to being a wonderful mother, she worked as a cook for an Elementary School when they lived in Maine. Leta was also a beautiful seamstress and upon returning to Missouri, she worked as a seamstress.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David McCubbin, in 1990.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Sebree and her husband, Rick, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Karen Johnson of Vallejo, California; three sons, James M. McCubbin and his wife, Kay of Norfolk, Virginia, Donald McCubbin and his wife, Nancy of Glenburn, Maine and John McCubbin of Richland, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Leta was so very loved by her family and leaves so many wonderful memories for them to cherish. She was a hard working, soft-spoken lady, while also being a very gracious and respected woman in her daily life. She was loved by all and will truly be missed.
No services are planned for Leta Brann. Interment will be in Glenburn, Maine, next to her son, David. Arrangements are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
