Leta Faye Johnston (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Leta Faye (Griffin) Johnston of Raytown, MO, passed away at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care on February 1, 2023.
She was born April 27, 1942, in Goodson, MO, to Virgil and Laura (Rice) Griffin. She graduated from Halfway High School, Halfway, MO, in the class of 1960. She attended Longview Community College. She was a member of Goodson Missionary Baptist Church in Goodson, MO.
Her life’s career was spent working for the United States Federal Government, retiring from the Department of Energy.
She and her sister formed Heartland Express Bluegrass and Gospel Band and performed regionally for 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Laura Griffin and brother, Wilbur Dale Griffin.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of her are her son, Derick A. Johnston; grandson, Austin Johnston-Ward; granddaughter, Caitlynn Johnston-Ward; brother, Ray (Marilyn) Griffin; sister, Lela (Len) Peeples; sister-in-law, Florene Griffin and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM in Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar, Missouri
