Lilan Alicia Preusch (Lebanon)'s Obituary
LILAN ALICIA PREUSCH
Lilan Alicia Preusch, daughter of Wynne and Janie Hicks Hastings, was born September 30, 1942, in Woodward, Oklahoma. She departed this life Sunday, February 5, 2012, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, four months, and five days.
On December 22, 1961, she was united in marriage to Don Preusch, at Boulder Baptist Church in Boulder, Colorado, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Lilan is survived by her husband, Don, of the home; a son, Timothy Preusch, and his wife, Vicky, of Stephens City, Virginia; two daughters, Lisa Huff, and her husband, Clayton, of Lonedell, Missouri, and Susan Egger, and her husband, Kent, of Carthage, Missouri; six grandchildren, Derek Preusch, Sadie and Maggie Huff, Emily, Garrett, and Grant Egger; a brother, Kent Hastings, and his wife, Judy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends.
She was born and raised in Oklahoma and several others locations while her family traveled following her father’s work. Eventually, the family settled in Boulder, Colorado, and Lilan attended Colorado University in Boulder, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She later received a Christian Teachers Certificate from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, in 1965.
After she and Don were married, they made their home on their farm in the Brownfield, Missouri community. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband, and family, Lilan also worked beside Don in the operation of their farm, and helped with the work at the Laclede County Livestock Association’s Feeder Pig Sale in Lebanon for many years. She worked at Cackle Hatchery for twenty-five years, retiring in 2010, after her health began to fail. For the last ten years, she had been the office manager for the hatchery.
Lilan made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus in her youth, and desired to serve Him in church and in her daily life. She was an active member and church pianist at Grace Baptist Church in Lebanon for over twenty-five years. She was always concerned about others and desired to serve Him in church and daily life.
She helped start the Good Neighbors Extension Club in the Brownfield area, and was a past president of the Gasconade C-4 School P.T.A.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing the piano, and liked collecting dirt and soil samples from across the United States. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Lilan was a precious and faithful wife and Soul Mate for over fifty years, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, a caring friend, and dependable employee. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best.
