Lilburn Mizer's Obituary
Lilburn Raymond Mizer, son of Ira ?Dock? and Alma Rogers Mizer, was born April 1, 1949, in Lebanon, Missouri. He passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his home, near Phillipsburg, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years, seven months, and twenty-two days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Virgil Mizer, of Phoenix, Arizona; and a beloved brother-in-law, Bob Barber. ?Bud?, as he was known to his family and church friends, is survived by a daughter, Amanda Rena, of the State of Texas; a sister, Audrey Gregory, and her husband, Tom, of Lebanon, Missouri; a niece, Linda Teubner, and her husband, Brandon, of Lebanon, Missouri, who were both very special to their uncle and helped care for him tenderly during his illness, and Bud was always an older brother to Linda all of her life; three great-nephews, Doug Smith, Scott Smith, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Scott Reed, currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and stationed in Japan; two great-nieces, Allissa Neff, and her husband, Danny, and Jennifer Smith, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a great-great-niece, Bailey Neff; two great-great-nephews, Carson and Cameron Neff; as well as several cousins, and many friends. Lilburn enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of seventeen, and served most of his duty in Korea. He always loved his country, the United States of America. He proudly saluted the flag on all occasions. He respected the military men and women who served our country and came home, and the brave ones that paid the ultimate price for the Freedom we are still able to enjoy. Lilburn was an Honorable Sheepdog, and very proud of it. He was at the parade in honor of the late Specialist James M. Finley, and wrote a song in honor of him that will be played at his funeral service. Lilburn was a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church, and helping with the work and activities with his Christian brothers and sisters. He enjoyed singing specials with several of the church members. He has been too sick to attend church, but was so happy when his pastor, Craig Perry, and a large group of his church family brought church services to him. He enjoyed the song and prayer service, and words can?t express how much. He was always a country boy at heart, appreciating all of God?s beautiful creations. He was co-owner of B & L Diesel Service with his late brother-in-law, Bob Barber, for several years. Truckers would come from everywhere to have them build their diesel engine and repair their trucks. Before he retired, he co-owned Scent From Above Candle Company with his niece, Linda Teubner, and they crafted many beautiful candles together. Lilburn was a handyman that could do everything and seemed to always have the correct answer to all the questions from the family, always knowing just what and how to do every task. The most important thing in Lilburn?s life was that he knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and loved Him with all his heart. He told his family he was ready for Jesus to take him home. He was the best son, father, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor and will be fondly missed by his family and everyone that knew him.
