Lillian Belle Ross' Obituary
Lillie Belle (Martin) Ross, daughter of Argus Lee and Frances Leroy (Doris) Palmer, was born October 26, 1909, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, July 12, 2008, in Kabul Nursing Home, in Cabool, Missouri, at the age of ninety eight years, eight months, and sixteen days. In 1927 she was united in marriage to Fred Martin and to this union two sons were born, he preceded her in death on September 9, 1932. Then on December 9, 1932, she married Fred’s cousin, Jesse Anderson Martin, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born; he also preceded her in death on May 10, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a great-great granddaughter; four brothers; and three sisters. Lillie is survived by five children, Donald Martin, and his wife, Neeta, of Grovespring, Missouri, Ellis Martin, and his wife, Lucille, of Branson West, Missouri, Mary Lawler, and her husband, Farris, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Jesse Martin, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Titusville, Florida, and Ted Martin, and his wife, Merlene, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; two step-children, Cathryn Crunkleton, and her husband, Dale, of Harrison, Arkansas, and Jean Elliot, of Marshall, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was born and raised on the farm near Hartville and attended Durbin School. She remained in the Hartville area until moving to Waynesville in 1952, where she met and married Audy Ross in October of 1976, and together they shared eighteen wonderful years, until his passing on August 8, 1994. Then in 1996 she moved to Cabool. Lillie had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a long time member of Elk Creek Baptist Church, where she was very active. After moving to Waynesville, she attended Buckhorn Baptist Church. She centered her life on her family and loved caring for them. She was also a great cook and had worked in various restaurants, simply for the love of cooking. In her spare time she enjoyed making beautiful quilts, fishing, working in her garden and canning. Lillie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be at 1:30P.M Wednesday July 16, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri. Visitation is Tuesday evening 6:30-7:30P.M. Burial will be in the Durbin Cemetery. A memroial has been established to the Durbin Cemetery care fund and donations may be left at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Holman- Howe funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri.
