Lillian "Dee" Gallion (Seymour)'s Obituary
Lillian Darlene Gallion, beloved wife of Eugene Gallion, departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at her residence in Seymour, Missouri. “Dee,” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was eighty years, ten months and twenty-seven days of age at the time of her passing.
The youngest of seven children, she was born Lillian Darlene Cole on May 29, 1934, to John Sam and Grace (Hargus) Cole, in Seymour. A true native, she was raised and spent all of her years in Seymour. Dee was a graduate of the Seymour High School Class of 1952. Later that same year, on October 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Eugene Gallion and to this union a son and daughter were born. Dee was a homemaker, but also worked outside her home, retiring as a seamstress from H.D. Lee after 25 years of loyal service and the plant closing. She was well-known for her excellent sewing skills and quilting talents. Dee was a long-time dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church in Seymour. She and Gene later moved to town and became members of Diggins Southern Baptist Church. Dee and Eugene were happily married for sixty-two and a half blessed years. Lillian Darlene was the last of her six siblings to pass away. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Theador Cole, John Cole, Lloyd Cole, and sisters, Christine Milligan, Laura Glenn and Irene Ragsdale. Dee leaves behind her devoted husband, Eugene of the home; son, Randy Gallion and wife, Marilyn, of Marshfield, Missouri; daughter, Jeannie Calfas and husband, Monte, of Seymour; granddaughter, Stacey O’Reilly and husband, Brian, of Belton, Missouri; grandson, Eric Gallion and wife, Shelly, of Mansfield, Missouri; and grandsons, Tim Hankins and wife, Amanda, of Marshfield, and Jason Hankins of Saint Louis, Missouri; four great-granddaughters, McKyna Johnson, Kylee Johnson, Preslee O’Reilly, and Aundria Hankins; seven great-grandsons, Jaxon Johnson, Easton O’Reilly, Justin Gallion, Jacob Gallion, Mason Hankins, Landon Hankins, and Marshall Hankins; several nieces, nephews and extended family, and countless more dear friends and neighbors.
Dee was as dedicated to her family as any wife, mother and grandmother could be. Even as an ‘older’ grandmother, she was the full-time babysitter of newborn great-grandchildren. She had a knack for crafts and would make each family member a handmade ornament every Christmas. Dee loved gardening, especially flowers; irises were her favorite, and she looked forward to the arrival of her hummingbirds every spring.
Lillian Darlene Gallion has left our earthly lives suddenly and much too soon, but the precious memories and moments she created and shared with family and friends will be treasured in their hearts and minds forever. She will be so deeply missed by all those who were blessed enough to know and love her.
