Lillian Voris' Obituary
Lillian Elizabeth Voris, age 98 of Bolivar, MO passed away at 9:00 PM Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility in Buffalo, MO.
She was born on November 2, 1912 in Bolivar, MO, the daughter of Lester McKinney and Seeley (Thayer) McKinney.
Lillian was united in marriage to J. Mose Voris on July 16, 1932 in Bolivar, MO and to this union 3 children were born.
She was a longtime member of the Halfway Missionary Baptist Church.
She was very supportive of her family. She followed her children as they participated in Sports, music and other activities. A faithful loving wife and wonderful mother, she will be dearly missed by all of us. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Mose, her sister, Mary Taylor, two brothers, Albert McKinney and Edgar McKinney.
Surviving is her daughter, Twyla Stewart of Bolivar, MO; two sons, Derrell Voris and wife Judy of Springfield, MO and Kenny Voris and wife Sue of Elkland, MO. Eleven grandchildren, Steve Stewart of Lebanon; Jane Gladden of Goodson; Sid Stewart of Bolivar; and L. R. Stewart of Springfield. Also Debbie Burney of Phoenix, AZ; Patty Keck, David Voris, John Voris of San Diego, CA, Traci Voris, Kendra Voris, Shaun Voris of Brimley, MI and 16 great grandchildren.
During her life she was very active in the church and taught Sunday School for several years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, room mother and a member of the Eastern Star as well as other service clubs. She and her husband Mose were very active in the Polk County Historical Society and the organization of the Polk County Museum.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM, March 23, 2011 at the Butler Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Elder DeWayne Burdette officiating. Musical soloist will be Curtis Voris with Lori Buckner as the Pianist. Casketbearers will be Logan Stewart, Chris Stewart, Steven Stewart, Wayne Gladden, Sidney Stewart, L. R. Stewart and Jon Sanders. Burial will be in the Reed Cemetery south of Halfway under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
