Linda Jean Dawes (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Linda Dawes, age 75, passed peacefully on February 5, 2024, surrounded by love. She was born to EuJean (Butler) Gothard Dooly on August 3, 1948. Her father passed when she was just a young girl and Linda spent her childhood helping her mother and brother on the farm. Graduating from Fair Play, MO in 1966, Linda continued on to university to become an educator.
Linda married John Wayne Dawes on June 10, 1972. They were married for over 40 years and raised four children. As an adult, Linda was blessed with Everett Dody as her stepfather.
Linda poured herself into teaching. She taught business, accounting, and was the yearbook advisor at Walnut Grove High School. Linda taught for 30 years, retiring from Walnut Grove after her youngest child graduated in 2004. Linda was also very active in the Lake Stockton Council of the Blind. Linda also enjoyed a few hobbies such as crocheting, creating hand made cards, fishing at Bennett Springs, and absolutely loved collecting recipe books. She always leaned toward a sweet treat. She was an excellent cook.
Linda was a selfless woman who helped others without hesitation. She was kind, thoughtful, and had a card or craft for nearly every occasion. Linda built a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Gothard and EuJean (Gothard) Dody, stepfather, Everett Dody, Brother, Bobbie Gothard, mother-in-law, Ruth (Harris) Dawes, father-in-law, Robert C. Dawes, and her husband, John Wayne Dawes.
Linda’s legacy will continue wither her children: Robert Wayne Dawes and wife, Carie, Michael Paul Dawes and wife, Heather, Stephanie Dale Dawes, Melinda Leigh Phillips, and Kathryn Kersh. Grandchildren, Rebecca Lyn Dawes, Megan Renee Dawes (Brett Mathis), Paige Elizabeth Dawes, Manuel Vincent Flores and wife Brittany, Joseph Paul Dawes, Phoenix Loudon Terry (Riley Fox), and Rosslyn Sephia Terry. Great-grandchildren, Callie Lenore Flores, Raden Yates Flores, Greyson Elliot Wise, and Yosemite Sierra Mathis.
Services for Linda will start at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Lindley Prairie Cemetery in Bearcreek, Missouri. Visitation for Linda will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lake Stockton Council of the Blind.
