Linda Rae Lackey (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Linda Rae Lackey (Taylor), 73, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 9, 2026, following an eight-year battle with vascular dementia. She is now free from illness and at rest in the presence of her Lord.
Born May 27, 1952, in Leavenworth, Kansas, Linda grew up in Denver, Colorado, and the Kansas City, Missouri area, and graduated from high school in Denver in 1971. Known for her determination and strong work ethic, she worked for the phone company for many years before later becoming an over-the-road truck driver-never afraid of challenges.
Linda was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her life. She trusted God completely and lived with generosity, often giving even when she had little, confident the Lord would provide. Though not one for extravagance, she took great pride in her homes and considered homeownership among her greatest accomplishments.
A strong and fiercely independent woman, Linda raised four children as a single mother. She was known for her sarcastic humor, huge heart and memorable stories that revealed her fearless, full-of-life spirit.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy Lackey Sr. of Osceola, Missouri, and Thelma Kropf (Harrison) of Pittsburg, Missouri; her brothers, Kenneth (Bo) Taylor of Foley, Alabama, David Lackey of Osceola, Missouri, and Lee Roy Lackey Jr. of Independence, Missouri.
She is survived by her four children: Russell (Rusty) Taylor and wife Christy of Edwards, Missouri; Candi Byrd of Brush, Colorado; Amanda (Mandi) Lourenco and husband Steven of Buffalo, Missouri; and Sandra (Sandi) Stewart of Osceola, Missouri. She is also survived by her sisters Susan (Sue) Patten and husband Michael (Mario Andretti), of Killeen, Texas; Rebecca (Becky Lou) Snowden and husband Thomas (Willie) of Liberty, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Alice Taylor of Foley, Alabama; Lorraine Lackey of Harrisonville, Missouri; and Debbie Lackey of Independence, Missouri.
Linda leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends who will miss her deeply. She will be remembered for her faith, strength, generosity, independence, and compassionate heart.
A private family service will be held in Linda's honor. Arrangements are under the direction of Cantlon - Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo, Missouri.
